Barcelona Is Gettin it on… The summer may be finally leaving this city, but nothing stops Barcelona from turning up the heat, making our pulses rush, giving us hot flashes and lasting for five whole days… wait for the climax…it’s the Erotic Film Festival (FICEB)!!!!
The newspapers around Spain suggest that this festival represents the change to democracy. During Franco’s four decade reign, censorship was enforced. Today, however the liberal Spanish society welcome the representation of sex on screen as a symbol of social progress, yet contrastingly, there will always be claims to the degradation of woman.
The festival prerogative is to show all sexual tastes and it totally rejects claims to degrading women, professing these attacks as an insult to the industry. The festival will unleash erotic films ranging from sensual to pornography, with a section dedicated to the gay society.
The festival is situated in the Farga de L’Hospitalet and lasts from the 4th – 8th of October, but if that does not tickle your fancy or you just want more, more, more; Barcelona will keep your eyes fixed on the screen as it is jam-packed with festivals: from the 5 -14 of October in Sitges, near Barcelona, is the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia and from the 6-15 of October is the Barcelona International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. You won’t be left short!
